A Sure Way of Getting Nothing for Something
Gambling can turn into a dangerous two-way street when you least expect it. Weird things happen suddenly, and your life can go all to pieces. -
Hunter S. Thompson
Substance use and gambling are common co-occurring problems. Drugs are often used to celebrate our wins, console our losses, and escape the shame of gambling. In fact, it is the same neurochemical factors that make someone vulnerable to addictive behavior like substance abuse that also make him or her susceptible to a gambling problem. Approximately 33% of those with a gambling problem also meet the criteria for an alcohol problem. Unfortunately, the use of drugs can worsen a gambling problem by impairing the gamblers judgment.
Our treatment looks to combat those problems together. Through group and individual therapy, as well as financial counseling we help those find their path to recovery.
